Drawing pictures.

A while back, my old friend Brock Hodgkinson asked me If I would help him out with a small video project he was working on. I said yes and next thing I knew, he was at my house ready to film. All I had to do was talk, answer some questions and draw something. Well, this is what Brock came up with and the drawing I did. Even though I can't stand to watch myself, Brock did a killer job. Check out the rest of his stuff HERE!

Rats.

I was doing a drawing and had some spare ink on my brush, so I started this initial quick sketch. Well, I ended up spending a little more time on it and came up with this. A old school logo for me and my old skate buddies back home. It's totally fictional, we never had a team or gang or anything. Just fun with ink. Brush, black and white ink on bristol.

Nope.

Sometimes, things don't work out. A rejected drawing I did for the band I'm in. I was asked to draw a skull, I did, then we thought about how over used the skull theme was. No problem, just sit back down and come up with something else. Brush pen, fingers, black and white ink on bristol.

Last days of summer.

I started the pencils for this sketch in early June and just got around to inking it last night. A late summer shred was and is one of my favourite things. I just don't have to do homework anymore. Brush pen, brush, black and white ink on bristol.

Rob.

On June 15th, 2012, my good friend of twenty years, Rob Delorme passed away. The loss to his parents, sisters and his friends can't be described with this simple post.

Unlike me, Rob was a hell of a writer. We would always come up with a concept, he would start to write, I would start to draw and then the day to day stuff of life would get in the way. He was easily my greatest supporter. If I was down and out over something I did, he always found a bright spot. His enthusiasm was infectious.

I'm going to miss the endless hours of talking bullshit about comics, movies, girls, politics, bands and pretty much anything under the sun. Laughing all the while. So, here's a small tribute. Rob looking out over the field next to his parents house. It's nowhere near as beautiful to the real thing.

To Bernie Lomacks, Rob Dog, Bob, Bobby Ottawa, Bobby O, Deezy, Deez nuts and my man Delorme, you made me a happier and better person for knowing you.

Tube a roo my friend.

Inspiration.

Besides comics, skating has always been a huge influence on my art and in my life. The freedom and creativity it allows is indescribable. Plus, when I started, the graphics on the boards were sick! What kid doesn't love skulls, snakes, dragons, screaming hands and.. elephants? Being street skaters ( we didn't get a decent ramp in town until years later ), when Mike Vallely hit the scene, my friends and I were blown out.  He proved you could skate anything and everything. His impact on our scene was huge. So, as a small tribute, here's my take on his first pro board. Brush pen on Bristol.

FridayDrinkAndDraw....

I'm a huge Mike Mignola fan. I think Hellboy and B.P.R.D. are the bee's knees. So, during a #FridayDrinkAndDraw on twitter, I had a chance to take a stab at a favorite character. Daryl the Wendigo. Brush pen, Microns, White ink and water colour.
